Vice – Coital Alignment

The Coital Alignment Technique (CAT) is a variation of the missionary position designed to enhance clitoral stimulation and increase the likelihood of orgasm for the receiving partner. Developed by American psychotherapist Edward Eichel, CAT shifts the focus from traditional thrusting to a rocking or grinding motion, emphasizing clitoral contact. In this position, the penetrating partner moves slightly upward along the receiver’s body, aligning their pelvis higher to maintain consistent pressure on the clitoris. This adjustment can be beneficial for individuals who may not achieve orgasm through vaginal penetration alone, addressing the common orgasm gap in heterosexual encounters. Additionally, CAT can be advantageous for those experiencing erectile difficulties or conditions like vaginismus, as it doesn’t rely solely on penetration for sexual satisfaction. The technique can also be adapted for use with strap-ons or dildos, making it inclusive for various sexual orientations and preferences.
